Carry on being silly....

Yet more of the silly stuff...
The little cup cakes are just such a quick and fun project, very suitable for the school holidays when time to sew or knit is so limited...I am saving my better ones (knitted with 4ply on small needles) for sale, but a few of the first ones went missing and I later found them in my youngest child's play kitchen all ready to serve up with a pot of "pretend' tea...
Well if my Mom thought my cupcakes silly, goodness knows what she would think of my latest project...Last night after the babes had all drifted off to sleep, tired after a busy day playing, I spent a good hour putting the house back together as we had had a few friends over to play.  I poured myself a rewarding glass of chilled white wine, opened up the french windows and watched the night roll in over the hills whilst cutting up little bits of paper...to make my own little beach hut...you  know how much I love beach huts...now I have my own...only it did not stop there...I got a little carried away and made a whole beach full!  I got the idea from this months Craft Beautiful magazine, I am not really a big fan of this magazine, I feel it has got a little too run of the mill, but being the summer holidays and wanting fresh ideas to entertain the children I picked it up and I have a plan to make a few little things from it.  Talking of idea's if your looking for fun stuff to do with the kids get yourself over to The Crafty Crow, there are some great inspirational ideas, and if you have no kids, its still worth a look.

This week has been spent at home with the children, we have had lazy mornings, 'lie ins' with a pot of tea for Mommy and glasses of milk for the little ones, time to read a selection of books and magazines, and even make a cupcake or two, all before breakfast.  We have spent time with friends and had a few days splashing around in wetsuits getting very wet indeed...This weekend we are off to the beach again and we are hoping for the weather we had at the start of the holidays...I shall be taking my sock knitting with me and I am in the process of looking for a small hand sewing project to keep me busy.  I am so missing my time at my sewing machine, I keep wondering into my sewing room and picking up my fabric and longing to make things...
So may the sun shine on us and here's hoping for another weekend filled with memories that will keep us warm when the winter chills blow in....Have a good one...

Today I have been mostly making...

Just a short post today to start off the weekend...following on from my previous post I never managed to get the cushion finished yesterday, I got a bit hooked on blog reading...you know how it goes... So today, my easy day, I started the day off with a swim, then a little bit of food shopping (Oh man!!! how I hate food shopping) I returned home and baked myself a nice fish pie. Once the kitchen was all clean (or as clean as I make it) I retreated into my sewing room and got busy on the cushion...
So there you have it, the front view, the back view and the close up, all that's left is for me to sponge off the transfer pencil from the front cotton piece and I am already to invite someone in to sit on my nice comfy sofa filled with all my cushions...anymore cushions and there will be no room for anyone to sit there, still it looks pretty...
Last night I sat at the kitchen table with the children and we got the art stuff out, we thought it would be fun to make a farm as we are thinking about a little holiday I am trying to plan on a working farm...sometimes with the age difference its hard to get something they both like and can do, so this proved a good project, so I thought I would share a miniture tutorial with you...
If I knew how to do a pdf file (if thats what you call it?) I would, sadly as I do not, if you wish to have ago you will have to sketch the picture out to the required size, they are nice easy shapes so it should not be to difficult, just make sure the feet are straight!

Place the cutout shapes on the fold of folded card and then cut out, use a bone folder if you can, it makes it a nice crisp line, my little one likes to do this...then once all cut out, get the colouring pens or pencils out of your choice and go a little crazy, I liked this bit best and indeed ended up making more than required just so I could colour them in!!! As I was doing this I let my imagination go and thought that you could add googly eyes or bondaweb fabric on to card and have textured animals, or lovely fabric for really funky animals...this would maybe make a nice gift from one child to another...anyway don't forget to glue the horses head on and make sure you get the weight distribution right or you will have a tipsy horse...
So its the start of the weekend, I wish you a good one, what will the Suzie Sews household be doing? Making a barn of course..Have fun and be well...

Busy little soul

Oh Mann! It has been SO busy around here, I thought this week was going to be an easy one, who was I kidding!!! Restaurant Thursday went off well, the sign was finished and put up, the bell is for my oldest to ring to say the restaurant is open, its a great way to get him to lay out the table. (Note: the cow, this is a sneaky 'today's' picture for Month of Moo). The food was all eaten up, the waitress (me) had to work real hard, and these little customers give a great tip...lots of kisses!!!
I have spent a lot of time sitting here over the last couple of days between school runs etc...
Busy making these, all finished now... Party Bags for the 'Super Hero party'
These are the recipe cards, thanks Caroline for emailing me the the recipe. Can you spy all my lovely papers...
Its my patchwork course tomorrow and I can not wait. A bit of luxury time for Mommy. Today has been manic, a whirl wind of people and children through my door and a visitor for dinner tonight...I thought I had a clear morning to write my blog, after I had made some soup and filled the slow cooker with a Greek Stew the door bell goes, two friends popping in to say Hi, after the nursery run a couple of friends and their four children arrived for lunch, the kids had a GREAT time, off to the library for story time and then the school run. At home for a breather then off out to collect my oldest child just in time for our guest to arrive...Phew, take a breath Suzie...
Have a great weekend.
